Welcome to the Biografica User Guide
This user guide covers the most important elements of using Biografica. Our goal is to help you complete your Biografica life story with the greatest satisfaction, that's why we have designed the writing experience to be as natural as having a conversation with a loved one.
We believe the three most important things to know about Biografica as you embark on writing your life story are:
- You can move around the LifeQuestions in a way that suits you and add new questions if you wish.
- You don't have to answer every question.
- Your writing is automatically saved every 10 seconds.
Your "My Story" Page
When you first log in using your user name and password, you will be taken directly to your "My Story" page. This is where you write your life story.
Think of the green headings as the chapters in your story. When you click on one of these green headings, a new menu appears below with subheadings. Click on one of those and you will be taken to the relevent LifeQuestions:
When you click on any of those subheadings, the related LifeQuestions will appear to the right. Then you simply type your responses in the boxes below each question.
You may move around the form to add, delete or change what you've written as much as you wish.
Saving your life story
Biografica automatically saves your writing every 10 seconds, so you don't have to worry about losing anything. You don't even have to press save. We've done that for you.
Your story is saved on our secure servers, not on your computer. That means when you close your computer, log out of Biografica, or log in using another computer, your life story will still be there for you to continue writing.
Tips
On the right-hand side of each LifeQuestion, you will see a tip or thought starter. These help you think about how you might respond to that LifeQuestion. It might not be perfect for your own story, but it may jog a memory or inspire a new idea to help you overcome writer’s block.
Uploading photos
As you write your life story you may want to add photos along the way. There are two ways to do this:
- ‘Drag and drop’ your photo into the Upload box in your life story, OR
- Click anywhere in the photo box area and upload the photo from your computer files.
