Sometimes the first few words of a life story, or even answering any question, can be the most difficult.

To help you overcome this we’ve provided some sentence starter ideas here to help get your fingers moving and thoughts flowing.

When it comes to writing, as with many things, don’t let perfect get in the way of good enough.

There is no perfect

Sentences or even sections of your story don’t have to be perfect – your responses should aim to record your thoughts, feelings memories and emotions about whatever you are writing about. If your memories jump around little from topic to topic, then go with that. If you are on a train of thought and ideas keep coming, then keep them flowing. Note down brief ideas as they come to you. You can always come back later and refine.

For now, try to relax and have a bit of fun with your story.

Write a few sentences of your own without giving it too much detail though. Just get ideas down as they come to you no matter how well-formed at this point.
