Client Question: How will my writing look in my book?

The photo above shows some of our book page designs.

Looking at your “My Story” page, you'll see down the left-hand side is the list of major topics:

  • You and your family
  • Growing Up
  • Education years ... etc.

These words become the chapter headings in your book. Under each of these headings are the questions you answer to create your story, which become the sub-headings in your book. For example, the questions about “You and Your Family” in the book becomes the heading:

Me and My Family

Unless you choose to use our editing services, it’s important to note that all your writing will appear in your book exactly as you write it. So when you're writing, keep in mind how you'd like your story to appear. For example:

  • If you'd like lots of short paragraphs, then write your story using short paragraphs.
  • Where you have a quote from someone, put that text in quote marks, such as:

“We are moving to Australia next June.” Mum said

  • If you want to list items, then use hyphens before each item in the list, such as:

Our camping trips were always a big event. Dad would load up the car so there wasn’t an inch of spare space. He brought everything but the kitchen sink:
– tent
– cooking stone
– picnic rugs
– chairs
– even the dog (sometimes!)

Editing services

If you intend to use our editing service for your finished story you can then include notes and instructions to us about how you would like specific sections to be displayed, because it is a collaborative process. For example:

EDITOR: this is a very important point so please make it larger font and in green.

When we edit and design your book, we’ll know how you want this section formatted.
